Roman Terracotta Oil Lamp With Grapes On Vine & Maker’s Mark
Item Description
C. 1st-2nd century AD
A nice example of a Roman oil lamp depicting grapes on vine to central discus, with ovolo pattern to shoulders. It has a short, rounded canal nozzle with maker’s mark to base of a sandal.
Small chip to edge otherwise good detail.
Provenance: Ex Oxford Gentleman collection, collected in the 1980’s-90’s.
