Roman Terracotta Oil Lamp With Grapes On Vine
Item Description
C. 1st-2nd century AD
A nice example of a Roman oil lamp depicting grapes on vine to central discus, within a border of concentric circles. It has a volute motif to short, rounded canal nozzle and concentric circles to the base.
Small chip to discus with good detail and some earthy surface deposits.
Provenance: Ex Oxford Gentleman collection, collected in the 1980’s-90’s.
