Roman Terracotta Oil Lamp Decorated With Female Bust
Item Description
C. 1st-2nd century AD
A nice example of a Roman oil lamp decorated with female bust to central discus, with braids on each side, framing the face. It has a pierced, loop handle to the back with incised linear patterns, and a rounded nozzle which is separated from the discus by a horizontal line, flanked by two dots. There is a makers mark to base but is not clear, it could possibly be, “IVNDRAC”.
Although makers mark in unclear, it has good detail to bust and is intact.
