Roman Bronze Cockerel Brooch
Item Description
C. 2nd century AD
A hollow-bodied zoomorphic brooch of a cockerel, which would have been enamelled. It has a wavy comb on its head, large eyes and its tail upright and curved.
Although slightly damaged, with some earthy surface deposits, it has an even green patina with original pin still intact.
Provenance: Manchester Collection, collected in the 1990’s.
