Egyptian New Kingdom Faience Bead Necklace With Amulet

Item Description

C. 1570-30 BC – New Kingdom to Ptolemaic Period

A Egyptian restrung necklace consisting of a selection of faience beads of various shapes and colours. It features small flattened discs in red, yellow and black, with alternating vibrant blue faience tubular beads, typical of the New Kingdom period, and at the centre a faience amulet.

Faience is a glazed ceramic, produced from quartz or sand crystals mixed with other compounds. It produces vibrant colours and is finished with an alkaline glaze to surface. The Egyptians believe faience represents immortality and rebirth.

A beautifully restrung, wearable necklace with a modern silver plated screw clasp and vibrant coloured beads.
