Byzantine Bronze Cross Pendant
Item Description
C. 9th-12th century AD
A bronze cross with arms rounded at the ends, each of which has a pair of lateral projections with incised decoration to each arm. It features five circular areas, which represent the five wounds Christ suffered during the Crucifixion.
Although slightly damaged it is of a nice style with detail and some light earthy surface deposits.
Provenance: Ex H. N. Collection, Milton Keynes, collected in the 1980’s -90’s.
