Bactrian Bronze Stamp Seal Depicting Scorpion
Item Description
C. 2300-2000 BC
An interesting bronze, compartmented and open-work stamp seal, in the form of a scorpion within an outer band. It is a flat face and flat back, with a rectangular handle with a narrow top with a piercing at the base.
Small dent to the outer rim otherwise in good condition and nice detail.
Provenance: London Collection in 1990’s, accompanying letter seen by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993.
