Egyptian Faience Amulet of Harpocrates

Item Description

C. 713-332 BC – Late Period

A green glazed amulet of the god Harpokrates, portrayed as a naked male child, standing on a small rectangular base. He is identified by his side-lock, a common hairstyle for young Egyptian boys. His left arm rests by his side, while his right arm is bent with the index finger held to the lips or the chin, which is a typical Egyptian gesture symbolising childhood. It is pierced through back pillar for suspension.

In very good condition with some earthy surface deposits and crude detail.
