Egyptian Faience Falcon Amulet

Item Description

C. 664-525 BC – 26th Dynasty –  Late Period

A green glazed falcon amulet standing on a rectangular base, with incised detail. The falcon was associated with different gods, like Horus and Re-Harakhty. It is pierced at the back for suspension.

Intact with some earthy surface deposits and in good condition, with crude detail.

Provenance: Thomas Allworthy (died 1973) thence by decent to the last owner. Allworthy was a collector of antiquity who sold a small number of pieces at Sotheby’s 19th May 1956.
