Egyptian Faience Amulet of Isis Nursing Horus
Item Description
C. 713-332 BC- Late Period
A green glazed amulet of the goddess Isis seated on a throne, nursing her son Horus who is seated on her lap, and propped up by her left hand. Isis is commonly associated with birth and creation.
Some earthy surface deposits with minor nicks to edges, otherwise with a nice glaze and crude detail.
Provenance: Thomas Allworthy (died 1973) thence by decent to the last owner. Allworthy was a collector of antiquity who sold a small number of pieces at Sotheby’s 19th May 1956.
